Bullet in cafeteria leads to lockdown

Prescott Middle School was placed on lockdown for two hours Tuesday after a bullet was found in the school’s cafeteria.

The bullet was found about 8:45 a.m. after students had finished eating breakfast, said Annie Morrison, a spokeswoman for Advance Baton Rouge, the organization operating the school after it was taken over by the state this year because of poor academic performance.

Police searched students at the school but did not find a weapon, Morrison said. The school was taken off lockdown at 10:45 a.m.

Detectives seek help on bank robbery

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office are investigating a Tuesday afternoon robbery of Regions Bank on Greenwell Springs Road.

A man wearing a black jacket and a tan cap came into the bank around 3:25 p.m. and demanded money from the teller, saying he had a concealed weapon, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said in a news release.

The man left the bank in a gray Chevrolet Tahoe with the license plate PSG344, Hicks said.

Anyone with information regarding this bank robbery is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (225) 389-5000 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.

Deputies arrest man in domestic abuse

The Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded to a domestic abuse call Tuesday afternoon at a Ned Avenue residence.

After the woman called 911, her boyfriend, 25-year-old Erwin Price, pulled her inside the residence and locked the door, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said in a news release.

SWAT team members forced their way into the house, finding the man locked with four children inside of the bathroom, the release says.
