Four more arrests have been made in connection with the possible hazing of two Southern University marching band members hurt prior to Saturday’s Bayou Classic football game in New Orleans, authorities say.

Carlo-Andres Carter, 19, and Harvey Harrison, 19, were arrested around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count each of aggravated second degree battery and ritualistic acts, said Kellie Engles, a spokeswoman with the Sheriff’s Office. Four more men were arrested later on the same charges: Jeremy Dixon, 22, of Natchez, Miss., Joseph Lee Webb, 21, of Columbus, Ga., Lagarian Bridgewater, 22, of Baton Rouge, and Aubrey Harris, 20, of Canton, Miss.

Officials said another arrest was pending.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office confirmed that Carter and Harrison are current members of the Southern University band, WBRZ has learned.

The two injured band members are in serious condition and are being treated at a local hospital, Engles said.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office began their investigation Monday after being contacted by the Baton Rouge Police Department, she said.

Police were working the possible hazing complaint until they ran into jurisdictional issues, Engles said. The incident involving the band members allegedly occurred in the northern part of the parish, she said.

The university is also conducting its own investigation, and released a statement following the arrests: "The Southern University family continues to hold our two injured students and their families in our thoughts and prayers. We are still cooperating with law enforcement authorities in their investigation of this matter. Today’s arrests resulted from the ongoing investigation. We have zero tolerance for hazing at Southern University and we will ensure that violators of our policy prohibiting hazing are sanctioned and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
