N.O. reserve officer killed in crash
NEW ORLEANS — A reserve officer for the New Orleans Police Department killed over the weekend apparently lost control of his car less than a mile after crossing the Lake Pontchartrain twin spans, authorities said.
Authorities say 74-year-old Curtis Jones, of Slidell, was driving back from New Orleans on Interstate 10 around midnight Friday when he crashed. Jones had just worked security at the Louisiana Superdome.
State Police say he crashed into a tree and later died at North Shore Regional Medical Center in Slidell.
