Gov. Bobby Jindal will be in Miami today to meet with fellow GOP state executives at the Republican Governors Association.

The association’s annual conference is being billed by the national media as the first conference of the party’s leaders since GOP U.S. Sen. John McCain lost his bid for the presidency and the party’s candidates lost seats in the U.S. Congress.

One of the plenary sessions will be an “in-depth evaluation of the 2008 election cycle.” Jindal said he would participate in the panel discussion, attend a luncheon and a reception.

Gov. Sarah Palin, of Alaska, who was McCain’s running mate, told reporters that she would speak at the meeting.

The list includes Republican governors that national pundits name as possible future presidential candidates, including Tim Pawlenty, of Minnesota; Charlie Crist, of Florida; and Haley Barbour, of Mississippi.

As he has in the past few weeks, Jindal said he was not interested in running for president in 2012.

Jindal said Tuesday that in order to reenergize, the Republican Party must focus on rooting out corruption, taking actions that are in line with the party’s rhetoric, and focusing on solutions rather than just criticizing the new Democratic majority in Washington, D.C.

“People are quite frankly tired of politics and are looking for solutions,” Jindal said. “It’s time for the party to reach across the aisle and work with the new president-elect, the new congress.”

Jindal said the governors’ meeting would give him the opportunity to discuss issues with other governors because the states are incubators for ideas that eventually are adopted on the national level.

“The states lead the way on a number areas like education reform, health-care reform, infrastructure, really the top issues that are facing our country,” Jindal said. “All wisdom doesn’t reside in Washington.”

Jindal said he would leave Miami and fly to Chicago to give the keynote speech Thursday at U.S.-China Chamber of Commerce Trade Conference.
