LSU-Ole Miss to start at 2:30 p.m.
The LSU-Ole Miss game scheduled for Nov. 22 in Tiger Stadium will start at 2:30 p.m., according to an announcement made by the Southeastern Conference today.
The Tigers (6-3 overall, 3-3 SEC) are 1-2 in day games at home this season. The Tigers beat Appalachian State 41-13 in a 10 a.m. kickoff before losing 52-38 to Georgia and 27-21 in overtime to No. 1 Alabama in games with 2:30 start times.
Other SEC games scheduled that day include Tennessee at Vanderbilt (11:30 a.m., Raycom), Arkansas at Mississippi State and The Citadel at Florida.
LSU has won the last six meetings against Ole Miss (5-4, 3-3). The Rebels' last victory against the Tigers was a 35-24 win in Tiger Stadium in 2001.
The LSU-Ole Miss contest will be televised by CBS.
BAMA'S JOHNSON RACKS UP HONORS: Alabama safety Rashad Johnson won national and conference honors today, two days after the Crimson Tide's 27-21 overtime victory against LSU.
Johnson was named Defensive Player of the Week nationally by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, and he also won the Southeastern Conference's weekly defensive honor. Johnson tied a school record with three interceptions. His last pick ended LSU's possession in overtime. Johnson also set up Alabama's first touchdown with a interception and returned another pick 54 yards for a second-quarter score.
Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones was named Freshman of the Week after making a game-high seven catches for 128 yards against the Tigers. His 24-yard reception in overtime gave Alabama first-and-goal at the 1. John Parker Wilson's quarterback sneak two plays later provided the winning score.
Other SEC award winners are Florida's Tim Tebow (Offense), Auburn's Tristan Davis (Special Teams), Georgia's Ben Jones (Offensive Lineman) and South Carolina's Jordin Lindsey (Defensive Lineman).
