U.S. Rep. Charlie Melancon remembers meeting Democratic presidential contender, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., at a White House reception for members of Congress elected in 2004. Both are members of the 2004 class.
Television and newspaper photographers took pictures of Melancon, D-Napoleonville, standing with Obama, images that appeared on television news and in newspapers, including USA Today and The Washington Post.
When Melancon later saw Obama in the halls of the Capitol, he jokingly admonished his colleague.
“You know,” Melancon said. “You have to stop getting into my pictures.”

“As we have traveled the state over the past few weeks and months, it is great to hear how the reforms and changes Louisianians demanded have started to change the lives of many for the better,” Jindal wrote in his blog.

Bobby Jindal said his 6-year-old daughter wants to be an astronaut.
He said he thought she would change her mind over time about her future career. However, Selia Jindal, so far, has stuck to her space dreams, her father said.

First up on the board agenda was the election of a chairman.
Two names were put in nomination — Frank Simoneaux and Scott Frazier, both Baton Rouge lawyers.
