Louisiana State Police detectives today arrested a 16-year-old male for the alleged rape of a 6-year-old girl, according to a news release issued by Mark Dennis of State Police Troop F. The teenager was booked at the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office on aggravated rape charges.

The arrest is the result of an LSP investigation into an incident that occurred on a charter bus for the Louisiana School for the Deaf, which is located in Baton Rouge. The alleged rape took place Sept. 26, and the State Police investigation began Sept. 30.

The alleged victim and the suspect were both students at the school. The alleged crime occurred in Franklin Parish as the bus was transporting the two to their respective homes in north Louisiana.

The 16-year-old will be held at a juvenile facility pending a hearing before a judge within 72 hours.
