One man was killed and another man was wounded Tuesday morning in separate but related shootings on Thomas H. Delpit Drive and Terrace Avenue, Baton Rouge Police reported.

Cedric Wright, 26, was killed in the first shooting, which occurred at 10:25 a.m. in the 1300 block of Thomas H. Delpit Drive near Terrace Avenue, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a police spokesman.

Thirty minutes later, a 52-year-old man was shot in front of his home in the 900 block of Terrace Avenue. He is believed to be the father of a possible suspect in the Wright shooting, McKneely said.

Wright, 954 Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive, was shot multiple times during an argument with a man, who fled the area on foot, McKneely said. Wright was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man who fled the scene was described as being black with a medium complexion and a stocky build, McKneely said. He is between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall and was wearing a gray shirt.

A group of people gathered around the V. Dimattia Shoe Store where Wright’s body was covered with a yellow cloth after the shooting.

Some of those people stood in silence while they watched detectives analyze the crime scene. Others watched while they cried.

The second shooting, which resulted in the wounding of the possible suspect’s father, occurred at 11:15 a.m., McKneely said.

The 52-year-old man, whose identity was not released, was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition, McKneely said.

“It is believed that this shooting is a continuation from the shooting that occurred this morning in the 1300 block of Thomas Delpit around 10:25 a.m.,” McKneely said.

Police have yet to determine the motives for the shootings, McKneely said.

Anyone with information about the shootings can call police at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
