Called The Equalizer, the class involves hands-on, physical training, said Sgt. Don Kelly, a police spokesman.
Participants must be at least 13 years old and have no injuries, Kelly said. Attendance at the first session is mandatory to be eligible to attend subsequent sessions. The class is limited to about 25 participants, Kelly said. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Classes will be held in four parts from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Police Academy gym at 704 Mayflower St. on the following nights:
Session one: Oct. 21, 23, 28 and 30.
Session two: Nov. 4, 6, 11 and 13.
Session three: Nov. 18, 20, 25 and Dec. 2.
