Thousands of alumni and fans came out Saturday morning in support of the Jaguars and to watch Southern University’s annual homecoming parade wind along its route on Harding Boulevard and Scenic Highway. Former Southern University Marching Band Director Ludwig F. Freeman served as the parade’s grand marshal, and Miss Southern University Mhykeisha K. Evans and her Royal Court rode in the parade, greeting the crowds along the route.
The parade was the capstone of a week of homecoming celebrations. Southern University kicked off its homecoming game against Texas Southern at 5:30 p.m. in A.W. Mumford Stadium.
