Two public workshops will be held next week to present information about reducing the risk and impacts of living with coastal hazards such as hurricane storm surge.

The free workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, at the St. Tammany Parish Government Council Chambers,  21490 Koop Drive, Mandeville, and from 9 a.m. to noon, Oct. 15, at the LSU AgCenter office, 6640 Riverside Drive, Metairie (across from the YMCA), in the Distance Education Room.

The workshops are hosted by the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program.

The workshops are based on the “Louisiana Coastal Hazard Mitigation Guidebook,” which will be available for free at the workshop locations.

A copy of the book can be downloaded from the Sea Grant Law & Policy Program Web site http://www.lsu.edu/sglegal.

The book can also be ordered by contacting Jessica Schexnayder, 105 Sea Grant Building, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA 70803.

A check or money order for $5 to cover shipping and handling should be included when ordering a printed copy.
