EBR schools call off bacterial meningitis alert
The East Baton Rouge Parish school system is calling off an alert issued Tuesday after learning that a student who was suspected of having bacterial meningitis does not have the malady, spokesman Chris Trahan said.
The school system plans to send all-clear letters home today to parents at Istrouma High School and the East Baton Rouge Laboratory Academy, Trahan said.
The student who was suspected of having meningitis attends Prescott Middle School, but had contact this past weekend with a student from Istrouma High School and another student from EBR Laboratory Academy, which is housed in the same building as Istrouma.
