Two women booked in drive-by shooting
Police arrested two women Sunday in a drive-by shooting Friday in which no one was injured.
Shelvia Singleton, 30, and Janice Singleton, 27, were allegedly riding in a blue Honda Accord in the 2100 block of Colorado Street at 5:30 p.m. Friday when Janice Singleton jumped out of the car and fired at several people standing in front of their house, an affidavit says. No one was injured, the affidavit says.
The Singletons, whose relationship was not immediately clear Monday, both live at 1336 N. 28th St. and were booked into Parish Prison on counts of attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon, booking documents show.
Deputies book man for holdup with toy
Deputies arrested a 20-year-old man who allegedly robbed another man Sunday while brandishing a toy pistol.
Jeffrey Alan Harrington, 42498 Weber City Road, Gonzales, allegedly asked the victim for a ride at the Circle K at 5055 Jones Creek Road at 1:05 a.m., an affidavit says.
The victim gave Harrington a ride to the apartment complex behind Portobello’s restaurant.
When they arrived, Harrington pointed a silver handgun at the driver and grabbed his cell phone, the affidavit says.
Deputies tracked down someone meeting the assailant’s description and, upon searching Harrington, found the victim’s cell phone, a toy handgun and drug paraphernalia, the affidavit says.
Harrington was booked into Parish Prison one count each of armed robbery, resisting an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and other prohibited acts, booking documents show.
Former patient faces arson count in fire
A patient who said he was tired of being in the hospital took unusual steps to free himself Sunday: allegedly setting his cardiac monitor on fire, an affidavit says.
Bruce F. Christianson, 65, was a patient at Oschner Medical Center-Baton Rouge on O’Neal Lane when he allegedly set his $3,500 cardiac monitor on fire before throwing it into a trash can to watch it burn, the affidavit says.
Nurses discovered the blaze and doused it with water, the affidavit says.
Christianson, 13940 Alvin Sibley Road, Walker, told the sheriff’s deputy sent to investigate he “wanted to dispose of the machine before it disposed of him.”
