FEMA’s New Roads center closes today
NEW ROADS — The Federal Emergency Management Agency is closing its New Roads disaster recovery center at 6 p.m. today, according to a FEMA news release.
FEMA says homeowners, renters and business owners affected by hurricanes Gustav and Ike still needing assistance can register by calling (800) 621-3362 at any time or register online at http://www.fema.gov.
Centers in Acadia Parish and East Feliciana Parish closed last week. FEMA has 18 sites in the state, including seven in the Baton Rouge area. They are:
Since Hurricane Gustav made landfall Sept. 1, almost 15,000 people have visited local disaster centers in the state and more than $78 million has been disbursed to eligible applicants, according to the release.

- East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana Leadership Institute, 5763 Hooper Road, Baton Rouge.
- Iberville Parish, Parish Library, 24605 J. Gerald Berett Blvd., Plaquemine.
- Lafourche Parish, Old Wal-Mart, 4876 La. 1, Mathews.
- Livingston Parish, Old State Police Camp, 11845 Buddy Ellis Road, Denham Springs.
- West Baton Rouge Parish, Old City Hall, 750 N. Jefferson Ave., Port Allen.
