LSU alumnus appointed dentistry dean
Dr. Henry A. Gremillion will become dean of LSU Health Sciences Center’s School of Dentistry today, LSUHSC-New Orleans Chancellor Dr. Larry Hollier announced Tuesday.
Gremillion, a Shreveport native, is an LSU alumnus and 1977 graduate of its School of Dentistry. He was recruited from the University of Florida College of Dentistry, where he was an endowed professor and a member of the dental staff of Shands Teaching Hospital.
Gremillion will be the sixth dean of his alma mater.
He succeeds Dr. Eric Hovland as dental school dean.
Hovland is taking a six-month sabbatical as an Oral Health Policy Fellow for the American Dental Education Association. It is part of a plan to develop a dental public health curriculum and identify dental public health funding opportunities.
