GALLIANO — Two National Guard members stationed in Lafourche Parish to assist with hurricane recovery duties observed an alleged illegal drug deal, then detained the participants until deputies arrived, the Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday.

The Guardsmen saw Floyd Griffin, 43, 128 B&R Lane, Golden Meadow, sell an unknown substance inside a store’s restroom on Friday, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

They also spotted Luke Adams, 46, 9768 La. 1, Lockport, enter Griffin’s vehicle with a wad of money, Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported in the release.

The Guardsmen located a smoker’s pipe with suspected crack cocaine and a large amount of cash in a plastic bag, according to Webre’s statement.

The Guardsmen called the Sheriff’s Office, which sent deputies to arrest Griffin and book him with possession of drug contraband and distribution of crack cocaine.

Deputies arrested Adams and booked him with possession of drug contraband and possession of hydrocodone.

Griffin’s bond was set at $2,500 and Adams’ bond was set at $500, deputies said.
