Gov. Bobby Jindal on Tuesday appointed Pat Manuel, of Eunice, to the Louisiana Public Service Commission until an election is held to replace former Commissioner Dale Sittig.

Sittig resigned Monday to become the new executive director of the Louisiana Offshore Terminal Authority.

Jindal appointed Sittig executive director of the offshore authority, replacing Rochelle Michaud Dugas, an appointee of former Gov. Kathleen Blanco.

Sittig’s last day on the PSC was Monday, officials said. A special election will be called next year to fill Sittig’s seat on the PSC, which regulates utilities in the state, Jindal’s office said.

Sittig, a Democrat from Eunice, was a member of the state House from 1983-1995. He supported Jindal in the 2007 gubernatorial campaign.

Manuel and his company donated $10,000 for Jindal gubernatorial campaign. Two other people with the same last name and same address donated another $7,500 to the governor’s campaign.

Manuel said he was honored to be chosen and that he would not run in the election.
