Baton Rouge Zoo puts off Penny Day
BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo announces that Penny Day, scheduled for Sept. 20 will be postponed until further notice. The zoo remains closed. Watch http://www.brzoo.org for information about the re-opening.

College Fair moved to Oct. 21 at center
The Baton Rouge National College Fair scheduled for Tuesday has been rescheduled for Oct. 21 at the Baton Rouge River Center.

Capitol High will reopen on Monday
Capitol High Academy will reopen for classes on Monday. All faculty, staff and students are asked to return to the campus for their normal times.

BR Whitney Bank offices closed today
Whitney National Bank offices in Baton Rouge will be closed today.

Abbeville, Franklin Cox centers closed
Cox service centers in Abbeville and Patterson are closed until Monday. The Franklin center remains closed because of damages from Hurricane Gustav. Weather permitting, the Lafayette service center will reopen from noon to 5 p.m. today.

Some La. prison visitations canceled
After being discontinued for the last two weekends because of Hurricane Gustav, the state Department of Corrections says visits at many state prisons will resume this weekend.

However, visitation remains canceled this weekend at Dixon Correctional Institute in Jackson because inmates evacuated from coastal Louisiana ahead of Hurricane Ike are being housed in the visiting area.

Both C. Paul Phelps Correctional Center in DeQuincy and Allen Correctional Center in Kinder also canceled visitation.

Delta College will reopen on Monday
Delta College of Arts and Technology will reopen on Monday.
