Blanco finds memoirs tough
Former Gov. Kathleen Blanco is finding it more difficult to write her memoirs than she expected.

“(It’s a) bigger chore than I realized,” Blanco told an audience at LSU after delivering a talk on coastal restoration.

Blanco said she relishes the opportunity to tell her story.

Three years after Blanco’s handling of Hurricane Katrina tarnished her political career, she said, the storm plunged her into “a quagmire of finger pointing.”

She said she may have created problems for herself by refusing to take part in passing the blame.

Magazine says Landrieu’s sexy
Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu may not make the cover of People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive issue, but at least one news organization finds him rather attractive.

New York Magazine described Landrieu as a “mighty sexy bald-headed man” in a blog on partying at the Democratic National Convention.

Landrieu said he is flattered.

“I’m overjoyed by the characterization to say the least,” he said.

According to the magazine, Landrieu also is quite the dancer.

The blog reported that Landrieu and Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius “were just tearing it up” during the Friends of New Orleans benefit in Denver.

McCrery to donate papers to LSUS
U.S. Rep. Jim McCrery will donate his congressional papers to Louisiana State University in Shreveport for the LSUS Archives and Special Collections.

McCrery will retire this year after 10 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. He has represented the 4th Congressional District of Louisiana for the past 20 years.
