Saints make roster cuts
METAIRIE - The New Orleans Saints made five roster moves today to reach the NFL limit of 75 players.
All teams have until 3 p.m. Tuesday to reduce the roster, but coach Sean Payton decided to get it done early.
Waived were wide receiver Todd Blythe, punter Waylon Prather and center Rob Hunt. The Saints waived/injured safety Curome Cox and reached an injury settlement with fullback Kevin Dudley.
Cox, a four-year NFL veteran, injured his groin two weeks ago and Dudley sprained his left ankle Saturday night in the Saints' 13-0 exhibition win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Saints and all NFL teams must reach the regular-season limit of 53 players by 3 p.m. Saturday.
