Man arrested in woman’s death
Baton Rouge police have arrested a man accused of killing a woman Thursday night and wounding a man who was sitting on her front steps with her.
Sgt. Don Kelly, a police spokesman, said in a news release today that Steven Aaron, 19, 2561 Jura St., was arrested overnight and booked on counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of a dangerous weapon.
Aaron is accused of shooting Algina Causey, 24, 237 Brice St., just after 9 p.m. Thursday as she sat on the front steps of her residence, Kelly said.
Clarence Belvin, 26, was sitting with her and was shot several times, the news release said. Both victims were taken to a local hospital, where Causey died.
Kelly said Belvin is expected to survive.
