BR woman indicted in husband’s death
An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury accused a 34-year-old woman Wednesday in the fatal shooting of her husband earlier this year.
Turishcheva Coleman, of Baton Rouge, was indicted on a second-degree murder charge in the April 26 death of James Coleman, 39, 1925 68th St.
Turishcheva Coleman allegedly shot her husband in the head with a handgun, police said after her arrest.
James Coleman died later that day at a hospital.
If convicted, the charge carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
A police report identified James Coleman as Turishcheva Coleman’s estranged spouse.
The report says officers responded to a vehicle crash and found James Coleman in the middle of the road with a gunshot wound to the head.
Prosecutor Lori Nunn said Turishcheva Coleman rammed her vehicle into her husband’s vehicle.
She told police she shot her husband as he approached her vehicle, the police report says.
