Volunteers aghast at damage in homes

The putrid smell of a refrigerator, closed since Hurricane Katrina, unleashes Wednesday when the door accidentally popped open as Iowa law student Erik Axelson moves it the curb. The law school sent 28 of its student volunteers to New Orleans to gut Katrina-damaged houses during their spring break.
