Car allegedly carried meth-making supplies

DENHAM SPRINGS — Three people were arrested early Monday after a Livingston Parish deputy found methamphetamine-making materials in their car during a traffic stop.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office said the deputy stopped a 1999 Buick Regal going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone on Linder Road north of Denham Springs.

The deputy found a 5-gallon propane bottle, drain cleaner, a 5-gallon bucket of fertilizer, camp fuel, tubing, lithium batteries, ephedrine, a funnel and other items.

When questioned, Rachel Renee Hopkins, 33, 37515 Walker North Road, Walker, one of the three people in the car, allegedly handed over processed methamphetamine and a smoking pipe.

Hopkins was booked on counts of operation/creation of a methamphetamine lab, Schedule II drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of 12 or more grams of ephedrine. Her bond was set at $250,000.

Albert Leroy Sheldon Jr., 42, 37515 Walker North Road, Walker, was booked on counts of operation/creation of a methamphetamine lab, Schedule II drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and possession of 12 or more grams of ephedrine.

His bond was set at $526,500.

Johnny Frankie Hopkins, 47, 37515 Walker North Road, Walker, was booked on counts of operation/creation of a methamphetamine lab, Schedule II drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and on bench warrants for having no driver’s license and two counts of reckless operation of a motor vehicle. His bond was set at $250,000.

All three were in Livingston Parish Prison as of early Monday afternoon, deputies said.
