What's on July 19 ballot

Early voting starts today and ends July 12 for the July 19 ballot, which is dedicated solely to propositions. Early voting will be held at parish Registrar of Voters offices, but not on Sunday.

 Acadia Parish
PARISHWIDE LAW ENFORCEMENT DISTRICT PROPOSITION
To levy a five-year, 9-mill property tax, estimated to generate $1,906,371 a year, for additional funding to include (a) salaries and benefits of deputies, (b) acquiring, operating and maintaining vehicles and communications equipment, and (c) operations and training.
CHURCH POINT PROPOSITION
To levy a 1-cent sales and use tax, estimated to generate $550,000 a year, for any lawful corporate purpose, including senior citizen programs and capital improvements. The tax would replace a 7-mill property tax levied for general purposes.
FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 3, PROPOSITION NO. 1
To levy a 10-year, annual $25 per parcel fee, estimated to generate $18,000 a year. (Portions of the Evangeline and T-Mamou communities.)
FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 3, PROPOSITION NO. 2
To continue a 10-year, 5.13-mill property tax, estimated to generate $185,711 a year. (Portions of the Evangeline and T-Mamou communities.)

East Baton Rouge Parish
CENTRAL COMMUNITY SCHOOL SYSTEM, PROPOSITION NO. 1
To levy a 25-year, 3/4-cent sales and use tax, estimated to generate $1,873,125 a year and subject to bonded debt, for school construction and improvement.
CENTRAL COMMUNITY SCHOOL SYSTEM, PROPOSITION NO. 2
To issue up to $49,235,000 in 20-year bonds, repayable by property tax revenue, for school construction and improvement.

Evangeline Parish
WARD 1 SCHOOL DISTRICT PROPOSITION
To issue $21.5 million in 30-year bonds, to be repaid with property tax revenue, for school construction and improvements, as set forth by the parish School Board on April 9. (Ville Platte, Tate Cove area, Chataignier and Belaire Cove.)

Iberville Parish
PARISHWIDE PARISH COUNCIL PROPOSITION
To renew a 10-year, 5-mill property tax, estimated to generate $1,798,900 a year, for public drainage works.
ST. GABRIEL PROPOSITION
To levy a 1-cent sales and use tax, estimated to generate $360,000 a year and subject to bonded debt, dedicated but not limited to sewer and wastewater facilities, water and fire protection, streets, sidewalks, bridges, drainage and other capital expenditures. The tax would replace the 1-cent sales tax voters approved in the July 20, 1996, election.

Lafayette Parish
PARISH LIBRARY PROPOSITION
To continue a 10-year, 1.61-mill property tax, estimated to generate $1,866,000 a year.
PARISH JUVENILE DETENTION PROPOSITION
To continue a 10-year, 1.17 mill property tax, estimated to $1,356,000 a year, for juvenile detention and rehabilitation.
CITY OF LAFAYETTE STREETS AND ROADS PROPOSITION
To continue a 10-year, 1.29-mill property tax, estimated to generate $1,169,000 a year, to maintain public streets and alleys.
CITY OF LAFAYETTE RECREATION PROPOSITION
To continue a 10-year, 1.92-mill property tax, estimated to generate $1,740,000 a year.

Livingston Parish
RECREATION DISTRICT NO. 5 PROPOSITION
To continue a 10-year, 15-mill property tax, estimated to generate $214,000 a year. (Town of Livingston.)

Pointe Coupee Parish
SEWERAGE DISTRICT NO. 1 PROPOSITION
To continue a 10-year, 5-mill property tax, estimated to generate $11,315 a year. (Areas north and south of New Roads.)
St. Helena Parish
PARISHWIDE SCHOOL BOARD  PROPOSITION
To issue $20.4 million in 25-year general obligation school bonds, to be repaid with property tax revenues, for school construction.

St. Landry Parish
MELVILLE PROPOSITION
To continue for 10 years the 1-cent sales and use tax, estimated to generate $74,000 a year and subject to bonded debt, dedicated for fire and police protection, including the operation and maintenance of the Fire Department rescue unit, building and maintaining streets, and paying general operating expenses.
FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 6 PROPOSITION
To renew a 10-year, 4.86-mill property tax, estimated to generate $125,500 a year. (Rural areas from the Sword-Savoy community west to Eunice.)

St. Mary Parish
WARDS 1-4, 7 & 10 SALES TAX DISTRICT PROPOSITION
To continue the three-tenths of a percent sales and use tax, estimated to generate $600,000 a year and subject to bonded debt, to be disbursed monthly to Franklin, Baldwin and the parish on a per-capita basis for: (1) Franklin police, fire and volunteer fire departments, including supplementing the salaries of municipal employees of such departments, and capital improvement for such purposes; (2) Baldwin public works or capital improvements; and (3) parish street lighting and other parish public works or capital improvements. (The western half of the parish from the Iberia-St. Mary parish line to Calumet Cut.)

Tangipahoa Parish
PARISHWIDE PARISH COUNCIL SALES TAX PROPOSITION
To continue for four years a 1-percent sales and use tax, estimated to generate $1.65 million a year beginning Dec. 31, 2009, to be dedicated as follows: 25 percent for local government operations and 75 percent for the parish Road and Bridge Fund.
PARISHWIDE PARISH LIBRARY PROPOSITION
To continue a 10-year, 3-mill property tax, estimated to generate $1,640,635 a year.
FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 1 PROPOSITION
To renew a 10-year, 10-mill property tax, estimated to generate $285,000 a year. (North of Brickyard Road, south of La. 10, and west of the Tangipahoa River, excluding the town of Roseland.)
GRAVITY DRAINAGE DISTRICT NO. 4 PROPOSITION
To continue a five-year, 2-mill property tax, estimated to generate $70,000 a year, with half to be used solely for maintenance and operations, and half for construction of gravity drainage works. (North of La. 40 and east of La. 51, including the town of Roseland.)

Vermilion Parish
HOSPITAL SALES TAX DISTRICT NO. 2 PROPOSITION
To levy a ‰ percent sales and use tax, estimated to generate $1.5 million a year and subject to bonded debt, for emergency-room operations and hospital buildings and equipment for Abbeville General Hospital and related facilities. (Parishwide, excluding Gueydan and a portion of Kaplan.)
