DWI suspected in crash that injures 3
Mother, 2 children injured in accident
WALKER — A mother and her two children were injured Friday afternoon when a man accused of driving while intoxicated slammed into the back of their van as they waited to turn into a grocery store parking lot.
Joseph Landry, 37, of Denham Springs, was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on counts of first-offense DWI, first-degree vehicular negligent injuring and careless operation, Louisiana State Police spokesman Trooper Johnnie Brown said. Landry was not injured.
Emmie Woodruff, 27, of Denham Springs, and her two children suffered moderate to serious injuries, Brown said.
Woodruff’s Chevrolet Cavalier was stopped in the southbound lane of Walker South Road, south of Interstate 12, about 4:30 p.m. as they waited to turn left into the Harris’ Grocery parking lot, Brown said. A 1995 Ford Van driven by Landry crashed into the back of their car at a high speed, forcing the Cavalier off the road, into a ditch and into a tree.
