Baker man arrested for drugs in traffic stop
BAKER — Delta Drug Task Force officers arrested a Baker man and seized 20 pounds of marijuana after a traffic stop Wednesday night, Baker Police Chief Mike Knaps said.
Knaps said the officers stopped a driver on La. 19 about 9:40 p.m. for having a tinted cover over the car’s license plate.
As East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Green and Baker Officer Greg Brown approached the vehicle, Knaps said they were “overwhelmed” by the odor of raw marijuana coming from the car.
The driver, Titus Herman Gray Jr., 25, told the two he had no drugs in the car, but Green’s narcotics detection dog, Jackson, alerted on the marijuana in the trunk.
Officers booked Gray, of 4428 Jefferson St., Baker, at Parish Prison with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, Knaps said.
The task force includes the East Baton Rouge, West Feliciana, Pointe Coupee sheriff’s offices, the Baker, Zachary and St. Francisville police departments and the Baton Rouge City Constable’s Office.
