Ascension deputies book 3 in weekend shooting
BRITTANY — Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested three men this weekend allegedly involved in a suburban shooting last week.
Booked into the Ascension Parish Jail were:
The shooting occurred at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Lake Park subdivision off La. 431 near Airline Highway, the Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday.
Mikhail Purpera, 20, was the first arrested, on one count of illegal use of weapons and five counts of attempted first-degree murder in the incident, and is being held in the parish jail on a $550,000 bond.
All four remained in custody Monday afternoon.
Witnesses told authorities that Purpera was talking to two people in a vehicle parked in front of Purpera’s home at 10165 Lake Park Ave. when they exchanged gunfire, Sheriff Jeff Wiley reported last week.
Bullets struck two nearby occupied homes but did not injure anyone, Wiley said.
Booked into the Ascension Parish Jail were:
- Derrick Butler, 21, 17586 Lomas Road, Prairieville, on counts of illegal use of weapons, assault by drive-by shooting, possession of firearm by convicted felon, and two counts of attempted first-degree murder. His bond is $285,000.
- Shawn Butler, 24, 17586 Lomas Road, Prairieville, on counts of illegal use of weapons, assault by drive-by shooting and two counts of attempted first-degree murder. Bond is $260,000.
- Zedrick Lang, 20, 41083 Chic Duplessis Road, Gonzales, on counts of principal to illegal use of weapons, principal to two counts of attempted first-degree murder and principal to assault by drive-by shooting. Bond is $210,000.
