Bicycle-pickup truck collision kills cyclist
ST. GABRIEL — A 29-year-old man was killed Monday evening when a pickup crashed into the back of his bicycle after the driver briefly looked away from the road, Louisiana State Police said.
Colin Goodier, of New Orleans, was riding his bicycle north on La. 75 north of La. 327 when a GMC pickup driven by Allen R. Ketelsen, 34, of Baton Rouge, crashed into it, State Police spokesman Trooper Johnnie Brown said in a news release.
Goodier was flown to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge with serious injuries and later pronounced dead, Brown said.
Ketelsen, who was uninjured, was booked into the Iberville Parish Jail on counts of negligent homicide, careless operation and suspended driver’s license, Brown said. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash, he said.
