LAROSE — The body of a teenager missing since Wednesday was found floating in Bayou Lafourche on Thursday.
Once the body was recovered, fingerprints confirmed it was that of Joshua LeBlanc, 17, 107 W. 28th Street, Larose, said Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre in a news release.
LeBlanc’s mother told deputies he had been missing since 2 a.m. Wednesday, Webre stated.
The exact cause and time of death remain unknown, but an autopsy at the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office is scheduled for today, Webre said.
A passer-by reported seeing the body in the bayou at 10:18 a.m. Thursday near East 23rd Street in Larose.
Detectives are continuing to gather information from friends and relatives of the victim as the investigation remains active in this incident.
Juvenile officers and members of Police Social Services had been with family members as deputies searched for the missing teen.
