Authorities seek store robber
GONZALES — The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office on Friday released a composite sketch of a man accused of robbing a Prairieville grocery store.
Investigators hope that public attention will help identify the suspect.
Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said a gunman entered the Prairieville Winn-Dixie supermarket on Airline Highway just before closing time late Wednesday night and demanded an employee give him money. The gunman fled on foot with more than $300, Bacala said in a news release.
Witnesses described the robber as being clean shaven, in his mid-20s with blond hair and fair complexion. They also said the holdup man, armed with a black revolver, was of thin build, about 5 feet 9 or 10 inches in height and weighing about 160 pounds. The man was wearing dark-colored shorts with a sleeveless white undershirt, white tennis shoes and a baseball cap.
Investigators added the robber possibly has a tattoo on his upper left shoulder or bicep area and that the fugitive’s left ear lobe had a scar at the bottom where it appeared an earring was possibly ripped out but had since healed.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the robber is asked to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at (225) 621-4636 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
