ZACHARY — Police arrested the former chief of Baton Rouge Metro Airport’s police force this morning on a warrant accusing him of sending inappropriate text messages to a teenage girl he coached on his daughter’s softball team.

David D. Anthony, 48, of Denham Springs, surrendered to Zachary police and was booked at Parish Prison on one count of computer-aided solicitation of a minor, said Capt. David McDavid, a spokesman for Police Chief John Herty.

Anthony was placed on leave in February after Zachary police opened an investigation into a complaint filed by the mother of a Zachary High School student.

The girl was 15 at the time the mother found 21 suggestive text messages allegedly sent by Anthony to the girl’s cell phone, police said.
