House Meetings
Appropriations. 9:30 a.m. in Committee Room 5. Agenda includes:

  • HB2 Provides for the capital outlay budget for FY 2008-2009.
  • HB1018 Creates and establishes the Workforce Education Fund.
  • HB1201 Requires the office of risk management to report each October 1st and February 1st regarding payment status of appropriated judgments and claims.
Civil Law & Procedure. 9:30 a.m. in Committee Room 2. Agenda includes:
  • HB420 Increases the general severance tax allocation to parishes.
  • HB1186 Reduces the amount of malpractice claims for uninsured patients.
  • SB265 Provides relative to the emancipation of minors.
Commerce. 9:30 a.m. in Committee Room 1. Agenda includes:
  • HB500 Provides for changes to the composition of the Pilotage Fee Commission.
  • SB123 Provides relative to restraints on competing business.
  • SB172 Provides relative to the purchase of copper and other metal material.
  • SB359 Revises the definition of “net energy metering facility.”
Transportation, Highways & Public Works. 8 a.m. in Committee Room 3. Agenda includes:
  • HB558 Requires public entities which advertise bids for construction of public works project to include an estimate of budget in the advertisement.
  • HB565 Authorizes the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to enforce Louisiana weight and size laws with mobile scales.
  • HB1021 Prohibits operators or passengers of a motor vehicle from smoking when any person under the age of 18 is an occupant.
Ways and Means. 9:30 a.m. in Committee Room 6. Agenda includes:
  • HB383 Requires health insurance issuers to pay local sales and use taxes on prescription drugs and pharmacist services under certain circumstances and provides penalties for violations.
  • SB87 Reduces individual income tax rates and brackets, and restores the full deduction for excess federal itemized personal deductions, to the same amounts as provided for prior to the enactment of the Stelly Plan (Act 51 of 2002) except for the reduction in rates for the lowest brackets.
  • SB188 Recreates the Tax Free Shopping (Refund) Program set to terminate on July 1, 2009.
Senate Meetings
Finance. 10 a.m. in Committee Room E. Agenda includes:
  • SB106 Provides a procedure for submission and review of information related to proposed amendments to the General Appropriation Bill.
  • SB351 Requires state agencies to purchase hybrid fuel or alternate fuel vehicles.
  • SB683 Provides that growth factor for determining the expenditure limit of the annual state budget consists of the annual percent increase in state population plus the annual adjustment in the consumer price index.
  • SB759 Provides relative to fatherhood initiatives and healthy marriage programs.
Retirement. Noon in Committee Room A. Agenda includes:
  • HCR2 Grants approval of a cost-of-living increase requested by board of trustees of the Louisiana State Employees’ Retirement System.
  • SB177 Provides for reduced retirement with 10 years of service credit at age 60 under certain circumstances.
Revenue & Fiscal Affairs. 1 p.m. in John J. Hainkel Room. Agenda includes:
  • SB109 Increases the amount for projects for minor repairs, renovation, or construction of facilities or purchase of land and facilities which may be undertaken outside of the capital outlay process by higher education.
