Jindal tells graduates to ‘dream big’

PINEVILLE — Gov. Bobby Jindal urged graduates at two universities to dream big and travel the world — but come back to Louisiana.

“Dream big. Go where your dreams take you,” Jindal told students at Louisiana College on Saturday. But, he told them, like Dorothy in
“The Wizard of Oz,” they’ll find “there’s no place like home.”

“You can dream big right here in Louisiana,” Jindal said.

Jindal, the son of Indian immigrants, had a similar message Friday for students graduating from Southern University in Baton Rouge.
Southern, which graduated about 650 students, and Louisiana College, with 158, were part of a commencement tour for Jindal that was to include Our Lady of Holy Cross College’s ceremony today in Westwego, and Louisiana State University’s graduation on Friday.

If Jindal can find a way to make the hot weather go away, get rid of the mosquitos and cock roaches, and create jobs to give people a reason to come back, then I'll do it. But for now, I'm comfortable making a living elsewhere. I struggled in Baton Rouge and had no choice but to leave. I make 5 times as much money as I was making in Louisiana. I'll always enjoy visiting once or twice a year, but I can't go back into poverty by moving back. No way.
