ST. AMANT — A stretch of Black Bayou Road is open since a propane leak was discovered Thursday evening.

Black Bayou, or La. 934, between O’Neal and Roddy roads was closed about 7 p.m. Thursday but reopened in time for commuters’ drives home about 4 p.m. today.

The leak of the flammable, but not poisonous, propane occurred when a contractor was dismantling a water treatment facility owned by the city of Gonzales, said Rick Webre, Ascension Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness director.
