Gov. Bobby Jindal is making the rounds today with Republican congressional candidates from two districts.

Jindal has endorsed former state Rep. Woody Jenkins of Baton Rouge for the 6th U.S. Congressional District seat and Sen. Steve Scalise, R-Jefferson, in the 1st U.S. Congressional District race.

Both of the congressional races are Saturday.

U.S. House Whip Roy Blunt, R-Mo., toured the 6th District with Jenkins this weekend.

Jenkins said a freshman congressman needs support from senior members of Congress to get help on capital improvement projects.

Jindal and Livingston Parish President Mike Grimmer will hold a pre-election rally and crawfish boil for Jenkins at 5 p.m. at the Hampton Inn in Denham Springs, followed by a rally in support of Scalise at 7 p.m. at Jacmel Inn Restaurant in Hammond.

The public is invited to attend.

The Hampton Inn is at 201 Rushing Road West in Denham Springs. The Jacmel Inn Restaurant is at 903 E. Morris St. in Hammond.
