Meeting set in BR for misplaced storm victims
New Orleans government and charity officials will hold a forum today for displaced Hurricane Katrina victims living in Baton Rouge.
The “listening session” will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council chambers at 222 St. Louis St.
Officials and groups holding the event include New Orleans Recovery Director Ed Blakely, New Orleans City Council President Arnie Fielkow, the Jeremiah Group, ACORN and All Congregations Together.
Blakely will give an update on recovery, and displaced residents will have a chance to air their concerns.
“I know that many people are still considering whether to return to New Orleans, and it is up to the city to give them the information to make that critical decision,” Fielkow said in a news release.
All New Orleans residents living in the Baton Rouge area are invited.
