Motorcyclist, 17, killed, hit sign, utility pole
ROSELAND — A teenage motorcycle rider was fatally injured Tuesday evening when his bike hit a stop sign and a utility pole, Tangipahoa Parish sheriff’s deputies said.
Joshua Lampton, 17, 64271 Perry Town Road, Roseland, was taken to Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite but was pronounced dead, deputies said in a statement Wednesday.
Lampton was on East Russell Town Road in Roseland and apparently did not stop for a stop sign.
Lampton’s 1993 Yamaha motorcycle hit the sign and an embankment before hitting the utility pole, deputies said.
A blood sample was taken and sent it to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab in Baton Rouge, deputies said.
