Authorities arrest three on DWI counts
Authorities arrested at least three people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 3 p.m. Wednesday and 3 p.m. Thursday, booking records show. Those booked and the counts against them:
  • Tyrone Nathaniel Burris Jr., 31, 6755 Buttonwood Drive, third-offense DWI, license plate required, expired license plate and open-container violation.
  • Randal Keith Hoover, 45, 5168 Thibodeaux Road, Greenwell Springs, first-offense DWI, improper lane usage, insurance required and illegal possession of a prescription drug.
  • Barbara A. Stewart, 49, 12150 Hooper Road, Central, fourth-offense DWI, failure to maintain control and open container in public.
Police arrest man in armed robbery
Police arrested Michael Wayne Murray on Wednesday in the Feb. 11 armed robberies of guests in two rooms at the Ten Flags Inn on Airline Highway. Armed with a shotgun, Murray, 38, entered the two rooms around 2:30 p.m. Feb. 11, demanding money, police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said.

After taking the guests’ possessions, Murray fled in a red pickup driven by a woman, McKneely said.

Police found Murray in the 1400 block of Thomas H. Delpit Drive based on a tip from witness and booked him into Parish Prison on two counts of armed robbery.

Police arrest man    in 1998 shooting
A 53-year-old man was arrested Wednesday, accused of shooting another man in the back 10 years ago, an arrest warrant said.

Charles E. Cross shot and injured the man March 24, 1998, in the doorway of the victim’s home at 7078 Van Gogh Ave., the warrant said.

Police could not locate Cross at the time but were notified of his whereabouts this week by a potential employer who ran a background check on him, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a police spokesman.

Cross was located in Iberville Parish and was booked into Parish Prison on one count of attempted second-degree murder.
