Arrests made in slaying, holdups
Deputies arrested a teenager and two men this morning in a pair of related holdups that left one man dead and two others wounded.
Billy Moore, 25, and a 16-year-old boy were arrested this morning in the shooting death of 26-year-old Jesus Amilcar Gutierrez, according to an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office news release. Deputies are not releasing the boy’s name because he is a juvenile.
Moore, the juvenile and 26-year-old Troy Henderson are accused in the separate robbery and shooting of two Hispanic men, authorities said. The two victims survived.
The suspects addresses were not immediately available.
Both robberies occurred this weekend in the Gardere Lane area.
Gutierrez was shot about 1 a.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of Mast Drive after an intruder burst into his bedroom and demanded money, sheriff’s officials have said.
Less than 24 hours earlier, two Hispanic men were wounded in an apartment in the 8000 block of Stern Avenue, which is around the corner from where Gutierrez was killed.
Intruders forced their way into the Stern Avenue apartment around 1:30 a.m. Saturday and demanded money, officials have said.
Sheriff’s detectives are investigating whether the suspects are connected to any other incidents.
