Get fried catfish, potato salad and coleslaw Hungarian Settlement-style 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 4, at American Legion Post 258, 26200 La. 43, Springfield.
The Hungarian Settlement Historical Society lunches cost $6 to dine in or pickup, and $7 per meal for delivery of at least four meals, as far west as Livingston and as far east as Hammond only.

WOW garage sale slated
Women Outreaching Women, a nonprofit that helps women and children who are victims of domestic violence, holds a garage sale 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, at 26852 4-H Club Road, Denham Springs.
One ‘Heck’ of a student
Albany Lower Elementary School second-grader Blake Heck was overall parish winner for the “Yes I Can” contest last month.
The contest is sponsored by the Council for Exceptional Children in Washington, D.C., and recognizes students with disabilities who are accomplished performers in academics, sports, extracurricular activities or community service.
Blake is the son of Carl and Darci Heck and was born with profound deafness and has a cochlear implant.
Six artists, 60 works
The “Six Men in the Arts” show continues through April 18 at the Hummell Street Gallery, 133 Hummell St., Denham Springs.
Darryl D. Alello, Kerry Curtin, David Phillips, Dody Sandifer, William J. Smith and Michael Verrett are displaying 60 paintings and drawings in a variety of subjects, mediums and styles.
All men are Arts Council of Livingston Parish or Denham Springs Fine Arts Association members.

‘Big Read’ still smolders
Activities for the National Endowment for the Arts initiative “The Big Read” continue at the parish library. Events have focused on Ray Bradbury’s cautionary tale about censorship, the 1953 novel “Fahrenheit 451.”
