Commission chooses new state forester
The Louisiana Forestry Commission selected New Roads native Wade Dubea as the new state forester, Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain announced in a news release Thursday.
The commission interviewed nearly a dozen candidates, Strain said.
The state forester oversees the forestry office which includes forest management, reforestation, forest enforcement and protection.
Dubea, who now lives in St. Francisville, replaces former State Forester Paul Frey who retired last year. An employee of the Department of Agriculture and Forestry since 2001, Dubea’s most recent position was branch chief for information and education.
