Chevron commits $4.75 million to LSU
LSU announced a $4.75 million gift commitment from Chevron Corp. -- the largest one-time corporate cash donation to the LSU Foundation in its history -- at a news conference Thursday.
Chevron’s gift will support multiple programs within the LSU College of Engineering, as well as the College of Basic Sciences and the E.J. Ourso College of Business, according to an LSU press release.
Of the $4.75 million, $3.9 million of the gift will go to the College of Engineering toward four designated focus areas, establishing:
- The Chevron Petroleum Engineering Emerging Faculty Recruitment Fund, a $1 million commitment.
- The Chevron Engineering Professorship Support and Development Fund, a $1 million commitment.
- The Chevron Engineering Post-Doctoral and Graduate Student Fellowship Fund, a $1 million commitment.
- The Chevron Engineering Multi-disciplinary Reservoir Visualization Center, a $900,000 commitment.
Prior to the gift announced on Feb. 28, Chevron had given more than $2.4 million to LSU.
Most of those gifts were designated to the College of Engineering.
More than 400 current Chevron employees worldwide received their academic degrees from LSU. Each year, Chevron matches about $150,000 in employee gifts to LSU, which doubles the impact of its employees’ philanthropy.
