Fix for schools includes leader

State Education Superintendent Paul Pastorek issued a letter Thursday, seeking “letters from companies, organizations and community groups with the expertise needed to create a dynamic learning environment” for 11 “Schools Potentially Eligible for Transfer” to state control. A Friday meeting  in Baton Rouge will issue requests for proposals on some or all of the schools, and “interested parties” are invited to attend. All 11 schools have been deemed academically unacceptable for 5 to 7 years.

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH:

• Glen Oaks Middle School, Grades 6-8, 505 students.
• Pescott Middle School, Grades 6-8, 593.
• Capitol Pre-College Academy for Boys, Grades 9-12, 210 students.
• Capitol Pre-College Academy for Girls, Grades 9-12, 244 students.

TANGIPAHOA PARISH:

• Crystal Academy, Grades 6-8, 89 students.
• Northwood High School, Grades 5-12, 214 students.

POINTE COUPEE PARISH:

• Pointe Coupee Central High School, Grades 6-12, 556 students.

MOREHOUSE PARISH:

• Morehouse Alternative School, Grades 7-8, 55 students.
• Morehouse Career Center, Grade 9, 126 students.

CADDO PARISH:

• Bethune Middle School, Grades 6-8, 326 students.

CITY OF MONROE:

• Sherrouse Academic Center, Grades 6-8, 70 students.
