LSU levee school opens

Sydney Coffee, the governor’s executive assistant for coastal activities, speaks during the Levee School opening session Tuesday at the Transportation Training and Education Center in Baton Rouge. Coffee reminded the participants that the state, since the 1930s, has lost 1,900 square miles of coastal land to erosion, subsidence and other factors.
