Six hospitals serve patients in EBR area

Six full-service acute care hospitals serve the Baton Rouge area, and there are a number of specialized hospitals and multipractice clinics.

According to the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, those hospitals include:

  • Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City, 3600 Florida Blvd., and BRGMC - Bluebonnet, 8585 Picardy Ave., are private, not-for-profit facilities that offer inpatient and outpatient care.

  • LSU-Earl K. Long Medical Center, 5825 Airline Highway, is a public hospital managed by LSU Health Services Center.

  • Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, 5000 Hennessy Blvd., is operated as a private, not-for-profit hospital by the Catholic Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady. Semper Care is a smaller hospital within OLOL that provides long-term acute care.

  • Lane Memorial Hospital, 6300 Main St. in Zachary, is a community not-for-profit hospital.

  • Summit Hospital, at Interstate 12 and O'Neal Lane, is a for-profit hospital, owned and operated jointly by Ardent Health Services and Ochsner Clinic Foundation.

  • Woman's Hospital, 9050 Airline Highway, is one of the largest women's specialty hospitals in the country.

    DHH lists four hospitals in East Baton Rouge Parish that provide rehabilitation services -- HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Baton Rouge, Benton Rehabilitation Hospital, Cypress Rehabilitation Hospital and Sage Rehabilitation Institute.

    DHH also lists two surgical hospitals -- Vista Surgical Hospital, 9032 Perkins Road; and Surgical Specialty Hospital, 8080 Bluebonnet Blvd. -- and two psychiatric hospitals -- Synergy Hospital, 4040 North Blvd.; and Cypress Psychiatric Hospital, 4363 Convention St.

    Promise Special Hospital of Baton Rouge, 17000 Medical Center Drive, is listed as a long-term acute care hospital.

    Another specialized facility is Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center on Essen Lane.

    Baton Rouge has at least three multi-specialty clinics, one public health unit and one public mental health hospital.
