VETERANS DAY BLAST: 4:30 p.m. Thursday, East Baton Rouge Parish Pride-Chaneyville Branch Library, 13600 Pride-Port Hudson Road. Children, ages 5 and up, will listen to stories and take part in activities that celebrate Veterans Day. Registration is required. (225) 658-1560.
DOG TALES: 10 a.m. Saturday, Carver Branch Library, 720 Terrace St. Children, ages 5 to 8, will pick out their favorite book and then spend up to 15 minutes reading to the animal of their choice from LSU Tiger HATS (Human Animal Therapy Services). The purpose of Tiger HATS, a community organization sponsored by the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, is to demonstrate the benefits of human-animal interaction through programs. PIZZA! PIZZA!: 11 a.m. Saturday, Baker Branch Library, 3501 Groom Road. Children, ages 3 to 7, will listen to the “Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza” and then create a paper collage pizza to take home. (225) 778-5960.
NATIVE AMERICAN TALES: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Main Library, 7711 Goodwood Blvd. Children, ages 8 to 10, will listen to Native American folktales, learn about the history of the totem pole and make a paper totem pole craft. Registration is required. (225) 231-3760.
