A TEEN’S TAKE: Daniel Hulgan on competing in a national chemistry contest

Extra: Daniel beat out 14 other students from across the country to emerge as the champion of the 2009 National You Be the Chemist Challenge this summer in Philadelphia. “Studying chemistry is rewarding, because there is a sense of accomplishment when you understand the material and can apply it and see how it affects the world around us,” Daniel said. He also participates in soccer, piano, swimming and chess and is active in the Parkview Baptist Church youth group.
