Scoop du Jour for Nov. 5, 2009
The Buzz Cafe, in downtown Baton Rouge in the historic Varsity Building, 340 Florida St., has opened a second location in Baton Rouge Community College’s Bienville building student center.
The Buzz Cafe at 201 Community College Drive is “the only food vendor for a steadily growing community college,” said owner David M. Kees. “Our new head chef is Jeremy Debatz, a graduate of the Louisiana Culinary Institute in Baton Rouge.”
Open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, the eatery’s menu is similar to that at the downtown location: sandwiches, salads, specialty wraps and Italian grilled panini sandwiches. It also offers a daily hot plate breakfast and lunch for less than $6.95, Kees said.
The BRCC location also has a pizza section which offers personal pizzas and a grill section that features cheeseburgers, French fries, fried chicken and hot wings.

A news release said the company also has created social media sites, including those on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, to provide visitors with an interactive forum.
Founded in 1944, Piccadilly operates about 120 food service locations, mostly in Southeast states.
