The Panhandler, 2561 CitiPlace Blvd., has scheduled some new cooking classes for December and added new dates and times to others.
Among the new classes are Christmas Eve Dinner by Tracey Koch, “Kids Soup” columnist for The Advocate, and another on a Hearty Holiday Brunch Buffet by Patti Tregre.
Cost for the classes ranges from $35 to $65.

International food event set Sunday
The Baton Rouge Center for World Affairs is sponsoring the “Passport to the World” 11th annual International Cooking Competition & Tasting Fair at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Louisiana State Museum, 660 N. Fourth St. in downtown Baton Rouge. The event showcases the dozens of native cuisines of the international citizens living in Baton Rouge.
In addition to tasting the international foods prepared by local cooks for the competition, guests for the event will be able to sample foods and wines from area restaurants, participate in a raffle, watch dance performances from India and China and hear reggae music performed by Henry Turner Jr. and Flavor. Native dress is encouraged.
Tickets are $45 if purchased in advance and $55 at the door. Student tickets, 18 and under, are $25 each. To order tickets online, see http://www.brcwa.com.
Group sets benefit for March of Dimes
The March of Dimes is sponsoring a fundraiser, “A Black Bib Event,” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Baton Rouge Marriott, 5500 Hilton Ave. The event will include cocktails, dining, a silent auction, live auction and entertainment.
Chefs and restaurants participating include Justin Ferguson of Stroubes Chophouse, Copeland’s Cheesecake Bistro, Galatoire’s Bistro, Juban’s, Kona Grill and Mansurs on the Boulevard.
